This fabulous little kimono is no longer 100% perfect bit given its age I think its allowed its few imperfections. These little silk kimono inspired jackets /robes were being made during the 1920s for the tourist markets. This one is utterly stunning and hauntingly beautiful. The cut is soft and easy and cut along the lines of a traditional piece. The silk is hand dyed to this beautiful and unusual shade of blue. Inside it is lined in a woven ivory silk that has a pattern throughout. The bottom edge is padded and then sleeves are dropped. The back and each front side has a magical embroidered dragons done on them that are just gorgeous. It can be tied at the waist for shape or just worn loose and easy. These are fantastic to wear at home, as a light evening topper or even as a dress if you add a silk slip under it. Great overall condition with some notes below to review before buying
Fully lined in an ivory tissue silk with no front closure. This item is around 100 years old and has been worn & loved. There are some discoloration to the lining here and some shattering to the lining near the neckline. Shattering to the silk along the padded edge here and there. Perhaps the slightest bit of sun fading that goes across one shoulder. The belt is a close match bit I doubt it is the original. A nick out of the fabric on the collar and some colour change near the front opening. These all add to the patina and in my opinion are not a detraction, but it is priced to reflect the current condition. Please see all the photos provided. It is still completely strong and wearable with care. It is all made by hand. Sold as found.
